A small business, as part of the assumption of managed services, was advised that the server running their business critical system responsible for processing sales and managing inventory was not just outside the warranty window but outside reasonable life expectancy for a server. In this case, the server was 7 years old. The business owner understood the situation and purchased a replacement server. 3 days prior to the planned migration, the production server suffered a catastrophic hardware failure.

Deeptree staff, having performed the backups necessary to maintain operations, stood up a temporary server, restored the backups to a virtual machine running on the temporary server while the new server was stood up. The new production server was installed, updates applied, and a secure configuration was deployed.

After the day’s transactions had ended and close of business had been performed, Deeptree staff migrated the production virtual machine from the temporary server to the new production host.

Deeptree staff worked with the business owner and staff to maintain operations throughout the business day, resulting in zero lost transactions and the customers coming and going had no indication that there was any issues related to the technology driving their transactions.
